Michael Lowe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Directors - Hinsdale on Feb. 25, 2026.
Michael "Patrick" Lowe, M.D., of Clarendon Hills, quietly passed away at home on February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and held by the prayers of many. Patrick was a loving father and husband, an innovative Gynecologic Oncologist, devoted physician and compassionate healer. For three years, Patrick faced metastatic lung cancer with courage and resilience.

Patrick was raised in Haleyville, Alabama by his parents John W Lowe and Tommie Blake Lowe along with his older brother Jonathan. His educational journey proceeded from Haleyville High School to Samford University where he made lifelong friends at Sigma Nu Fraternity. After graduating from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, his postgraduate residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology took him to the University of Iowa where he met Kim, the love of his life. They married in 2002 and began their 24 years of adventure together by driving across the country to Pasadena, CA, where Patrick completed his fellowship training in Gynecologic Oncology at University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in 2005.

Patrick initially launched his career as an attending Gynecologic Oncologist at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center West Clinic. He eventually made his way to the Midwest as the founder and director of Gynecologic Oncology Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

As a co-founding partner of the Gynecologic Cancer Institute of Chicago, Patrick previously served as the Director of Gynecologic Oncology and Director of Robotic Surgery at Advocate Christ Medical Center. He was widely recognized for his leadership in advancing minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, helping establish some of the earliest and most influential programs in the nation. His clinical expertise, surgical innovation and dedication to improving outcomes for women with gynecologic cancers earned him national and international respect.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Patrick offered not only medical expertise to his patients, but also hope, comfort, and strength during their most difficult moments. His strong work ethic, sense of humor, and heart of compassion will continue to be remembered and emulated by his family, friends, patients, and colleagues. His legacy lives on in his family, his patients, his colleagues, and in the advancements in gynecologic cancer care that he helped shape over more than two decades.

Patrick treasured watching and cheering on his son and daughter at their school athletic events and took pride in their achievements. He also enjoyed participating in triathlons, traveling, photography, cars, stock trading, and was an enthusiastic fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

During his journey living with cancer, his faith grew in profound and enduring ways. He was grateful to participate in the joyful celebration of his daughter Kate's baptism and confirmation just days before the end of his life.

Patrick is survived by his loving family, wife Kim, son Max, daughter Kate, brother Jonathan (Allison) Lowe of Haleyville, AL, nieces Sara-Ashton and Anna Blake, and his beloved dog "Bailey." His life has been enriched by the love of many including his extended family members, friends, colleagues, and grateful patients who will forever cherish his memory.

A Memorial Service honoring the life and legacy of Patrick is scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2026, at 4 PM at Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 Oak Brook Road Oak Brook, IL 60523.
