Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services- - FranklinMichael Shawn Lurty, age 67, of Franklin, TN passed away March 2, 2026, at his home. He was born in Erie, PA to his parents William John Lurty and Marilyn Longley. He had called Franklin home for the past 32 years and was a familiar and friendly presence to many in the community. He worked for Manchester Tank and Equipment for over 30 years.
Michael was of the Catholic faith and a devoted member of St. Philip Catholic Church. His faith was an important part of his life and guided him in the way he loved and served others.
He had a deep passion for recreational shooting and was a member of Owl Hollow Gun Range, where he enjoyed spending time honing his skills. Above all, Michael treasured the time he spent with his family, especially the many special daddy-daughter dates that created lasting memories.
Michael was a loyal friend to many and believed strongly in giving back to his community. He served five years as a Franklin Police Volunteer, a role he carried out with dedication and pride.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra Lurty; daughters, Megan (Blake) Huddleston and Monica (Christian) Watson; father, William John Lurty; brothers, Dave (Lisa) Lurty and Nick Lurty; sisters, Jennifer (Charles) Tucker. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Ann Booth.
A funeral mass will be held at 11AM Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at St. Philip Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Pallbearers will be Dave Lurty, Mark Swain, Blake Huddleston, Christian Watson, Joe Bizzarro, and Bill Rhue. Visitation will also be held 4:00PM-8:00PM Monday, March 9, 2026 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Aveanna Hospice.
