Michael Manigault was born October 21, 1950 in New York City to his father James Shubrick. He then traveled to Georgetown, South Carolina where he and sister Betty Jean Manigault-Gause were raised by Irene and Enia Manigault.
Michael was educated in the Georgetown Public School System. He later went on to join Job Corps. He made his way back home when he learned that his mom was ill. But being the person he was, Michael always found himself working. Michael worked at Pathmark's warehouse for 16 years. He then left there to become a delivery truck driver for Orange Public School System. He later became ill and left on disability.
Michael's health began to fail him, but he kept going to live life like nothing was wrong. When you would see Michael, he was always happy and when asked how he was doing, he would always say: "Girl, I'm OK."
Michael loved to dress and listen to his favorite icon, James Brown. His favorite interest was wrestling. Although Michael had a gift for gab, he always had a sense of humor and loved to crack jokes.
Michael leaves to mourn: his longtime friend of 32 years, Violet Hargett; two step granddaughters, Shaquayah Hargrave and Khalisha Johnson; three great granddaughters, Sa'Mayah Hargrave, Sa'Niyah Walker and Sa'Riyah Walker; a good friend, James Williams; his niece, Tammy Gause; a nephew, Desmond Gause; along with a host of other family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by: his father, James Shubrick; his parents, Irene and Enia Manigault; his sister, Betty Jean Manigault-Gause; and stepdaughter, Tameka Hargrave.
