Michael Lynn McGinnis

Michael Lynn McGinnis Sr. 50, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Wednesday morning, September 17th, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Ascension St. John's hospital. He was born on October 21, 1974, in Coffeyville Kansas to Terry & Sherry McGinnis (Gray). Michael had many nicknames, Mike, Big Mike, Big son, Mikey, Dad, Papa. Mike graduated with the Class of 1993 at Field Kindley High School with Honors. Shortly after graduating, Mike and Manissa Stanley had a daughter, Melanie Lynn McGinnis. They later went on to marry on February 14, 1995, where shortly after they had a son, Michael Lynn McGinnis Jr... Later they went on to divorce. Mike had later met Michele Handshumaker and together they welcomed their son Alek Jay McGinnis. Shortly after they came together in marriage on June 28, 2002, where they lived in Coffeyville, KS. Later they went on to divorce. Mike lived most of his life in Coffeyville, KS where he worked for AIW for many years, then followed on to do many years of Mechanic work. He was like a jack of all trades, very talented, he could do just about anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed many things in life, such as being around his children & grandchildren who were his pride and joys; as well as fishing, playing horseshoes, drawing, playing pool, working on vehicles, and helping anyone that needed help. To know Mike, was to know that he was a great man, with a caring, giving heart, and was just as stubborn as a mule with a great sense of humor. He is very loved by many and will be forever greatly missed. Mike is survived by his father, Terry McGinnis of Coffeyville, KS., one brother, William McGinnis of Coffeyville, KS., one daughter, Melanie McGinnis of Nowata, OK., two sons, Michael McGinnis Jr. & Alek McGinnis both of Coffeyville, KS. Four grandchildren, BraeLynn Hester, Ashten Hester, Brantley Hester, & Sylas Herrera. Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins & Nephews. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George & Shirley McGinnis, his maternal grandparents, William & Rosalea Gray, and his mother, Sherry McGinnis. A private celebration of life for close family will be held at a later date to honor Mike.
