Michael David Mercure

Michael David Mercure, 77, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025. Born on February 2, 1948, in Colchester, VT, Michael grew up in the Burlington/Winooski area and attended St. Francis Xavier School and Rice Memorial High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and built the foundation of the values he carried throughout his life.
Michael eventually settled in Winooski, the community he proudly called home for most of his life. On May 17, 1969, he married the love of his life Elizabeth (Kline) Mercure. Together they created a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unwavering devotion. They built a loving family and raised two children, Todd and Krista, who were his greatest joy.
For many years, until his recent retirement, Michael worked in the beverage distribution business, where he was known for his reliability, hard work, and warm, reasonable nature. Those who knew him remember him as a kind, generous, and loving man- someone who would lend a hand to anyone, anytime, without hesitation. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and steadfast compassion touched countless lives.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Normand and Jeannette Mercure, his older brother, Normand "Buzzy" Mercure and nephew, Brett Burleson.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife Elizabeth (Betty), his son Todd; his daughter Krista; his siblings, Joan Solomon (Fred), Jackie Burleson (Jerry Eidem), Ann Delaney (Richard),Thomas Mercure (Sheila), sister in law, Kathleen Mercure (Normand); and many nieces and nephews; all of whom will forever cherish the joy, guidance, and love he brought to their lives.
In keeping with Michael's wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of his life will be planned for a later date, when friends and family can gather to honor his memory and the legacy of kindness he leaves behind.
