Michael Ernest Mihos

Michael Ernest Mihos passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 24th 2024. Born December 2nd 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Michael and Mary Mihos. They moved to Hollywood CA in the early 1940s eventually settling in Burbank. He graduated from Burroughs high school. Michael had paper routes before and after school that allowed him to save enough money to marry his high school sweetheart Rosie Santi and make a down payment on a triplex upon graduation. Michael and Rosie started their family and had four children. Michael was in the Navy reserves when he was 19 in San Diego. He went on to work for the post office and delivered mail for more than 20 years. He also had a second job, Michael and Rosie bought a Herald Examiner newspaper dealership. The couple handled 7 editions a day with seven drivers around the San Fernando Valley for 25 years. He employed not only his own kids but numerous kids from all over his neighborhood to deliver newspapers. He and Rosie moved to Fort Bragg in 1977 leaving the hectic big city life behind them. They bought the Coast Motel and owned it for 25 years. In 1980 they opened the Rosebud Lounge on Oak Street. He also owned whispering Pines water and personally delivered water to all his customers. Michael was the distributor for the Advocate news for nine years and also was the fireworks chairman for the Lions Club for 22 years. He also sold real estate and had his broker's license. In 1995 he went in partners with his son acquiring what is now Mike's classic car wash. Michael had a passion for classic cars and loved playing his weekly card games with his many friends. He and Rosie loved traveling to Maui numerous times every year. He lived his life with enthusiasm and passion and he did it his way. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary; Sister Alice Peterson; and his loving wife of 65 years Rosie. He is survived by his four children, Mike (Tammi) Mihos, Nikki Mihos, Jerri Mihos and Karel (Joe) Oswald; his two sisters, Nita (Vern) Reed and Lori (Mike) Furse. Additionally he leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed, never forgotten and forever loved.
