Michael "Mike" Gahan
Michael "Mike" Gahan, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Joliet, Illinois, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Joliet to the late William P. and Mary Kathleen "Taddy" (nee O 'Callaghan) Gahan, Michael was a proud graduate of Cathedral of St. Raymond Catholic School, Joliet Catholic High School, Lewis University, and the University of Notre Dame Law School. He devoted his professional life to the practice of law, working with distinction at Thomas Wallace Feehan & Barron, Rooks Pitts, Hinshaw & Culbertson, and Kavanaugh, Grumley & Gorbold. Known for his integrity, work ethic, and dedication to his clients, Michael earned the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his career.
Michael was deeply involved in his community and believed strongly in service to others. He was a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Will County Bar Association. His civic and faith involvement included the Notre Dame Club of Joliet, Joliet Catholic Academy Parent Board, St. Patrick's School Board, Parish Council, Athletic Association, Cathedral of St. Raymond School Board, and the Cathedral Area Preservation Association. He gave generously of his time and talent, always striving to support education, faith, and community growth.
A man of many interests, Michael was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf. He especially treasured attending his grandchildren's athletic events and watching Notre Dame sports with his beloved "grand pups" Rockne, Holtz, Stella, and Milo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Taddy Gahan, and his aunts Jeanne Baskin, Alberta Banzet, and Mary Banzet.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Amy Gahan; his children: Sarah (Nathan) Brown, David Gahan, Mike Gahan, Megan (Mike) Pullman, and Molly Gahan (fiancé Ryan Myers); grandchildren: Hannah and Jacob Gahan; William, Emma, and Evelyn Brown; and Grace, Matthew, and Benjamin Pullman. He is also survived by his brother, W. Patrick (Beth) Gahan, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held with visitation on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 1500 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to the Joliet Catholic Academy Scholarship Fund or the University of Notre Dame Club of Joliet.
Michael will be remembered for his devotion to faith, family, and community, and for the lasting impact he made on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
