It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" Yeager, a loved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mike peacefully departed from this world on January 24, 2024, at the age of 72, due to complications from a stroke.
Born to Mike and June Yeager, Mike was the eldest of three brothers, Patrick and Timothy Yeager. He graduated from Milford High School in 1969, where he proudly earned the runner-up title in the Iowa state wrestling championship. He went on to serve his country in the US Navy.
Mike's life was filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He spent considerable time in Portland, Oregon, where he cherished every moment with his grandchildren, Rian and Henry Elkin. Retirement led him to settle in Spencer, Iowa, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Mike had a passion for spending time with friends, feeding the neighborhood squirrels, and fishing. His caring nature and boundless compassion touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Mike was the epitome of an environmentalist, leaving a light touch on the earth.
Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his daughter, Christian Elkin, his son-in-law, Dave Elkin, and his cherished grandchildren, Rian and Henry Elkin, his brother Tim Yeager, his sister-in-law Missy Yeager and countless nieces and nephews. While he may have departed from this world, Mike is forever remembered and deeply missed. He now reunites with those who went before him, including his beloved son, Brian Yeager, his beautiful mother, June Yeager, his father, Mike Yeager, and his dear brother and friend, Patrick Yeager.
In honoring Mike's memory, let us carry forward his spirit of compassion and his love for nature. Though he may no longer be with us in person, he lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest in peace and Have a Nice Day, dear Mike. You are forever loved, remembered, and cherished.
