Michael and I met when we were 17 years old on the first day of our Freshman orientation week at Syracuse University and we have remained dear friends ever since. Although we live 400 miles apart (and I lived in Calif. for 18 years) we occasionally did meet and it was wonderful. I first met Hinda when she and Michael came to Los Angeles she having won a place on a t.v. game show. I put together a marvelous dinner for them and two other of our S.U. friends at the hotel they were staying at; our two other friends journeyed journeyed from Ventura and Los Gatos to see Michael. From time to time I would see Michael on my travels; our last wonderful meeting was after the 2015 S.U. Class of 1960 reunion when I travelled to Rochester for a full day and night. We e-mailed other hundreds of times.
Michael was one of the nicest. smartest and wisest people I ever met. I always told him and Hinda he someday would be a judge. I am beyond saddened at his passing and will remember him with deepest affection for all of my remaining. days.

In my experience, Judge Miller's patience and compassion was unparalleled. He actually listened without bias regardless of who the litigants or their attorneys were or the issues presented. Outside of the courtroom he was still "Judge Miller" - the same calm, undivided attention, interest in whatever topic came his way. He'll be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Baruch Dayan HaEmet.
