Michael Ray Misener, 75, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away at home on Jan. 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sept. 1, 1950, to Raymond and Leita (Bowlby) Misener.
Mr. Misener graduated from Elkhart High School and proudly served in Vietnam with the United States Army, 101st Airborne.
On March 15, 2004, he married the love of his life, Rosanne (Jankowski) Cooper. She survives, along with his children, Heather Ryman (Jamey) of Elkhart, Shawn (Heather) Misener of Sturgis, Michigan, Amber (Rich) Raeder of Bristol, Indiana, and Michael Misener of Indianapolis, Indiana, a stepson, Cole (Amber) Cooper of Elkhart, Indiana; grandchildren Travis (Christine) Ryman, Maddie (Levi) Ryman, Carter (Stacie) Misener, Dylan Raeder, Caleb Webster and Danny Misener; stepgrandchildren Brianna, Lilly and Alexandria Cooper; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Pat Misener, two sons-in law, Eric Ryman and Danny Groves, and his grandson, Kevin Misener. Mike also leaves behind his beloved Chihuahua, Ricky, his father-in-law, Frank Jankowski, and a brother-in-law, Larry Jankowski.
Mike was employed with the city of Elkhart for 32 years, working in the street department and forestry division. He retired in 2009. Mike spent many Winters in Florida after his retirement, the last five years in Englewood, Florida, where he enjoyed time with family and many new friends. Mike loved his family very much and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing in his younger years.
Per Mike's wishes, no funeral services will be held, but a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Luminary Hospice for their compassion during Mike's illness as well as his long-time physician, Dr. Sam Borrelli, for many years of care and friendship.

I knew Mike in grade school, middle school and high school. Class of 1969. Mike was a good person. He was out going, funny and kind. Sorry to hear he passed. We were friends at school. We talked off and on. Time just don't stop.

Ray Misener Mikes father and I had some great times hunting rabbits together we use to call them ragsits Mike is now in a place where he will again be able to have those memories again a place where streets have no names.
