Michael Mitchell Obituary
Michael was born August 26, 1963 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Thomas V. and Barbara Mitchell. He graduated from Wooddale High School and was employed for over 20 years as a "meat technician" for Sam's Club. He was married December 2, 2006 to Carol Jenkins Mitchell and was a member of Oakland Church of Christ. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking, and he loved his dogs, Denver and Tippy.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Carol Mitchell; two stepdaughters, Erin Canady and Brittany Watkins (Daniel); and his son, Clayton Canady (Kate); his parents, Thomas V. and Barbara Mitchell; five grandchildren, Kayden Thearp, Dani Watkins, Lennox Canady, Porter Canady and Nolan Canady; three nieces, Lauren Mitchell, Myla Mitchell and Finley Mitchell; and two nephews, Andrew Mitchell (Mallori) and Baker Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Mitchell.
A visitation for Mr. Mitchell will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 11 A.M. Monday, June 10, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Greg Artz, minister at Oakland Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Andrew Mitchell, Clayton Canady, Daniel Watkins, Jacob Jenkins, Jason Hampton and Greg Mitchell.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
