Michael Mitchell

Michael A. Mitchell, 66 of Buck Run, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem.

Born in Pottsville on August 8, 1959, he was a son of the late Steve and Eva (Dombroskey) Mitchell. He was a graduate of Minersville Area High School.

Michael worked as a meat cutter for Acme Markets, owned and operated Mitchell's Meats and enjoyed customer service at Tony's Meat Market, a profession he took great pride in. He was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville, formerly St. Francis R.C.C. and UFCW Local 72. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, but nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janet (Delaney) Mitchell; daughter, Kelsey Mitchell of Philadelphia; son, Nicholas Mitchell and his wife Meghan of Conshohocken; and his treasured granddaughters, Delaney Noelle Mitchell and Elizabeth "Eliza" Reilly Mitchell. Being "Pop-Pop Barney" was one of Michael's greatest joys. He adored his granddaughters, spoke of them often and took immense pride in every moment spent with them. They were the light of his life and filled his days with laughter, love and purpose. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Mitchell and his wife Laura of Cass Township; sister, Marian Harris and her husband Robert of Pine Grove; along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
