Michael Edward Moneyhan, known lovingly as Mickey, was welcomed to his heavenly home on September 1, 2025. Born on December 6, 1950 to Earnest and Dorothy Moneyhan, Mickey grew up in the Arlington area, where he built a foundation of faith, family, and community that guided his life.
He attended Christ the King school and Terry Parker High School. Upon graduation, he attended Jacksonville University where he played on the basketball team. His love of sports kept him involved in softball, flag football, and competitive bowling. Mickey's energy, teamwork, and enthusiasm made him a beloved member of any team. He later attended UNF where he earned a degree in Computer Science.
Mickey's professional journey reflected his heart for serving others. He began as a teacher and also coached girl's softball teams to championships. Later, he worked for the State of Florida and the US Postal Service. Throughout every chapter, he continued to give his best to the people he served and worked alongside.
Music was one of Mickey's lifelong passions. Many will remember him playing guitar at church services, singing in his band as a teen, and teaching others to play guitar. He would frequently belt out a verse to a song in response to a common day question or situation, causing others to laugh.
Later in life, he became a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he lived out his Catholic faith through dedication, service, and fellowship.
Above all, Mickey was most proud of his family. He was actively involved in their activities, helped coach their sports teams, taught them to play guitar, and gave them wise advice.Becoming a grandfather (Big Daddy) only deepened his love and gave him new reasons to smile and new stories to tell. His family will forever remember his encouragement, humor, and unwavering pride.
Mickey's life was full of music, laughter, sports, faith, and love. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, whether through a shared song, a funny joke, a gentle word, or simply the joy of his presence. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the special memories he leaves behind.
Though he is deeply missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before.
Mickey is survived by his children: Erica, Erin, Caroline (Trever), Amy, and Sean and their mother, Kelli. His siblings: Marty (Roger), Mark (Patsy), Bob (Debbie), Jan (Danny), and Marilyn, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 742 Arlington Road on Saturday, September 20th at 10:00am.
