Michael S. Moran, 72, of Watertown, beloved husband of Jean Moran, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. Michael was born on December 21, 1952, in Gary, Indiana to the late Jack and Mary “Vicky” Moran.
Michael graduated Naugatuck High School, class of 1970. He went on to earn an associate’s degree in Turf Management at University of Massachusetts Amherst. Michael was the Master Gardener at The Course at Yale, a position he held for 32 years. Some of his hobbies included golfing, fishing and soccer, and was a lifelong fan of the NY Yankees.
In addition to his wife, Jean, Michael leaves behind his stepsons, Steven (Mimi) Gilbert and Peter (Annick) Gilbert; granddaughter, Cosette Gilbert; sister, Nancy D. (Moran) Carlson; niece and nephew, Megan and Dylan Carlson; great niece, Ava Victoria Gibbons; aunt, Becca Curtis of the UK; and several cousins, also in the UK.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, CT. A Funeral Service will commence at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local food bank of one’s choosing.
