Michael Morando Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crevasse's Simple Cremation - Jacksonville on Jan. 5, 2026.
Michael "Mike" Morando passed away on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and community that will never be forgotten.

Mike was born in Tampa, FL on November 20, 1950, proud son of his loving and devoted parents Mario and Barbara Morando.

Mike was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Linda Morando for 13 years and together for 28 years. He was a proud father to his only daughter Candice Morando, and a cherished stepfather to Deidre Davis (Stephen), Chris Williams (Elise) and a beloved Papa to Dustyn, Shane and Liv Williams, who brought him immense joy and happiness.

Mike is survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Morando, sister Michelle Sterci (Kent) and Lisa Cyr (Leon) and many beloved nieces and nephews whose love and support were an important part of his life.

Mike's fondest memories were growing up in Cleveland, TN where he loved playing basketball, baseball and other sports. He always called Cleveland his home and had made many long-lasting friendships to this day.

He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force in the 70's, reflecting his lifelong dedication to service. Following his military career, Mike worked as a Deputy for the St Johns County Sheriff's Office, continuing his commitment to his community for 25 years. Also, in his long list of accomplishments Mike worked at several Banks in Jacksonville as a Collections Manager.

A true sports enthusiast Mike was a passionate Jacksonville Jaguars fan and an original season ticket holder. He also enjoyed his time with the Champions club assisting in fan spirit and ticket sales. His love of sports extended to the Jacksonville Armada soccer team and playing softball for the Mooseheads and Monkey's Uncle Tavern in Jax Beach.

Mike loved life, travel, and time spent with family and friends. His warm humor and generous spirit left an everlasting impact on everyone who knew him and on the community he proudly served.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. All who loved him will be invited to share memories and raise a toast to a wonderful life well lived and deeply cherished.

I worked with Mike in the collections department of Barnett Bank back in the 70s. He was fun to work with and had a wonderful sense of humor. I ran into him again in the 90s when he was working in the sheriffs department. I´m sorry to learn of his passing and know he will be deeply missed. I´m glad I have the memories of working with him. My sincere condolences to his family.
