Eunice Matilda (D'oyley) Morando, affectionately known as "Nicey" to her friends and loved ones, transitioned peacefully on January 1, 2026, in North Miami, Florida. Born on April 2, 1949, in the serene town of Norwich in Portland, Jamaica, Eunice was a beacon of light and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eunice is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph D'oyley and Pernella Donovan Thomas, and Barbara D'oyley (sister), Gloria Walker (sister), and Kenneth Francis (brother). She is survived by Pauline Vevian Good (daughter), Jason Nicholas Holloway (son), Zachary Samuels (grandson), Kalyn Ferguson (grandaughter), Gonzalo Rivera (partner), Leopold Hall (brother), Winston D'oyley (brother), Lurline Morris (sister), Faye D'oyley (sister), Marvet (Junney) Miller (sister), and Neville (Sam) Minott (brother).
Nicey's early years in Jamaica were filled with lush landscapes, family bonds, and regular church attendance that would shape her love for beauty, kinship, and the Lord. Her creativity, stylishness, and appreciation for art led her to pursue a career in cosmetology-a field where she excelled and brought delight to many through her skillful work and compassionate presence. Eunice loved her family dearly, demonstrating her commitment to them through caring phone calls, gourmet meals, and tokens of affection. She carried her faith as a Christian throughout her life, serving as a cornerstone of the values she held dear.
Those who knew Eunice will remember her as the epitome of cheerful energy and all-embracing generosity. She approached each day with a faith-filled heart and a fervor for life that was contagious. Her optimism and nurturing spirit made her a cherished member of her community. Nicey's ability to notice the good in people and see the bright side of challenging situations was a testament to her own goodness and inner fortitude, and her belief that everyone deserved grace.
We celebrate Eunice-a treasured family member and friend, an elegant and talented beauty worker, and a good and faithful servant. She stands as an example of love that is unconditional, enduring, and intentional. Her memory will be a blessing to many.
We take comfort in knowing that Nicey's spirit will remain with us, guiding us through the vicissitudes of our own lives, encouraging us to find joy in the simple things, and to approach each day with a heart as magnanimous and loving as hers. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her life reflected the principles she held dear and that her influence will continue to sprout in the lives of those she touched.
