Indianapolis, Indiana – Michael J. Moreno Sr. went home to heaven on Friday, March 6, 2026. His calm demeanor, hard-working attitude, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
Mike was born in Indianapolis on July 16, 1959, to parents Felix & Mary Elizabeth (Smoot) Moreno. He graduated from Arsenal Tech high school, and played baseball in several leagues in Indianapolis, even being scouted by the Indianapolis Indians. However, he chose to serve his country instead and joined the United States Army where he was a paratrooper for the 1st Airborne. After he left the military, he earned his technical degree in welding and went to work at an aluminum extruding plant. He eventually became one of Alexandria Industries’ top supervisors, working for over 35 years until his sudden passing.
When not working, Mike loved riding his Harley Davidson on the open road. He lived for the days when he could get on his bike and let the miles pass behind him. If not there, you could find him rooting the Indianapolis Colts or the San Francisco 49ers to victory.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his son, Mario Moreno, brother Rex Wilkins, and brother-in-law Tony Gregg.
He is survived by his children Cenisa Nicole Wagner (Stephen), Michael J. Moreno, Jr. (Stephanie), Mark Moreno, Jordan Moore, and Cameron Moreno (Ressa); siblings Kimberly Gregg, Kerry Kaelin (Jessica), Kory Kaelin (Mara), Kara Kenworthy (Scott), and Karla West (Zach); grandchildren Brittney Newcomb, Lexus Williams, Stephen Wagner, Victoria Wagner, Dakota Moreno, Brianna Miller, and Marcella Moreno; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East (10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 11 – 1:30 pm with funeral services following at 1:30 pm. Pastor Jack Stout will preside. Entombment shall follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
