Michael Richard Mosher

Michael R. Mosher, 70, of Hilton Head, SC and Kennebunk, ME, passed away on March 5 at his home in Hilton Head, SC.

Born on April 3, 1955, in Indianapolis, IN to Charles and Ruth Mosher, Michael attended the University of Michigan and Saint Louis University School of Law. He was an Army JAG Corps Major and participated in humanitarian missions in Central America.

An accomplished litigator, Michael worked as a Partner at Mirick O'Connell in Worcester, MA for over 20 years. He specialized in medical malpractice and successfully defended many Massachusetts-area hospitals and physicians from lawsuits.

Michael married Susan Mosher (née Goulet) on September 1, 1978, in Manchester, NH. He is survived by his spouse; five siblings Mary Frey, Pat and Tony Rutz, Sally Lucas, Charlene and Carl Herstein, and Jane and Bob Totte; two children, Geoffrey Mosher and Jaclyn Mosher-Bruss (and their spouses, Ana Beesen and Andrew Bruss, respectively); and two grandchildren, Margot and Zoë Mosher.

Known for his quick wit and wry sense of humor, Michael could win over a jury with a clever quip as effortlessly as he could make family, friends and acquaintances chuckle over a well-timed remark during conversation.

Michael was a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines football and basketball teams, an avid golfer, and a keen reader of history.

Diagnosed with young onset Parkinson's disease (PD) in 1999 at the age of 43, Michael retired from law practice in 2002 and underwent deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in 2005. Throughout his battle with the neurologic disease, Michael maintained a positive attitude and an active lifestyle, inspiring others in the process.

Michael and Susan donated to the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases at Mass General Brigham to support better treatments, and, ultimately, cures, for Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and other neurologic diseases. They also supported organisations like the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Davis Phinney Foundation.

A Funeral Mass for Michael will be celebrated on March 24 at 10 AM at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church in Hilton Head, SC.
