Michael Mound Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simply Cremation - Colorado Springs on Sep. 9, 2023.
Michael Gary Mound received his reward of eternal grace the morning of September 7, 2023, after 74 years of service to his family, god, and country. He was a dedicated father to Angela Marie and David Matthew, and devoted husband of 50 years to Catherine Mary. Michael was born in Rutland, VT to Richard Mound and Janine Franquet, a Belgian immigrant, who have passed before him along with his older brother Raymond Richard. His love for his brother lived on with his sister in-law Patricia Anne and their two boys Matthew John and Mark Alan. Michael became a rare example of love, servitude, and sacrifice to all who knew him. He served in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in Vietnam and was unfortunately exposed to many chemicals used in aviation and defoliation, including the infamous agent orange. After his service Michael developed many serious and chronic physical afflictions, though he remained proud of his faithful service to his country. He fought bravely and beat every prediction of his demise by the doctors that worked to restore his quality of life. He never relented in his struggle to survive and be of service to his family and community, and became an inspiration to those who new him. Services for Michael will be held at 10am Friday September 15, 2023 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. There will be a mass followed by a meal downstairs in the church. In lieu of flowers, Michael's family is asking for donations to two services close to their hearts. The National Kidney Foundation which helped Michael through all his years of fighting his disease or the Pikes Peak Hospice which took loving care of him in his final days. https://support.kidney.org https://pikespeakhospice.org/donate-today/
