Michael Donavan Mozena was born November 18, 1955, at Lutheran Hospital to Lestel Donavon and Leta Rae Mozena in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Michael (Mike) was a delightful baby with big brown eyes. As a child, he was headstrong and when he decided to do something, he would. He started to crawl at 4 months and never stopped learning new skills quickly. He was a beloved son and brother and always kept his family close. He grew up in Spencer enjoying family camping trips, fishing, and wrestling. In high school, he excelled in wrestling and academics. After high school, he hitchhiked across country to California and back as the free spirit he was. When he returned to Iowa, Mike started a series of jobs working in the meat packing facilities in the Midwest area. He also had a long history of working for the Des Moines Register which continued throughout his adult life. During this time, he met and married Margery Deardorff of Royal, IA. From this union Nicholas (Nick) was born. After their divorce, Mike and Nick traveled to Trinidad, CO, to visit Diane, Tina, and Jason. Shortly after, they moved back to Spencer, IA. Mike and Diane were married in 1985 and he adopted Jason and Tina.Mike and Diane were married for 20 years, and they enjoyed family vacations, concerts, camping, and life together in Dickens, IA. During his life in Dickens, Mike started a business as a chimney sweep, which he successfully ran for 40 years. He was loved by his cliental and often spent time with them after the work was done. When life slowed down, he spent more time doing the things he enjoyed, especially fishing. Mike spent many nights fishing at his private fishing spot.Diane and Mike reunited and married again from 2013 to 2015. There was never a year in their relationship they didn't reconnect and see each other to go to concerts or just a simple dinner out. They never stopped planning a trip down Route 66 from start to finish.Sadly, Mike passed away peacefully at the Spencer Hospital on March 15, 2025. Prior to his illness, he asked the Lord into his heart. He was loved and surrounded by family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
