A memorial service for Mr. Mike Murphree will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, in the chapel of Replogle-Lawrence Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Hemann officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service, from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Mike passed away at his home on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Born in Jackson, TN, he was the son of the late Clyde "Cooky" Murphree and Jerri (Gowan) Murphree. Affectionately known as "Murph," he was a proud graduate of the final class of Medina High School in 1980.
From 1981 through early 2024, Mike and his longtime friend Alan Bradbury were widely recognized as the Tennessee Blues Brothers, bringing joy to countless people through their spirited portrayals of "Jake" and "Elwood."
Dedicated to his community, Murph faithfully volunteered at Centerville Cemetery each summer during decoration days. Over the years, he worked in production and as a guard at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant, later retiring from Farm Bureau as an adjuster after two decades of service. One of his greatest joys was riding his motorcycle through the countryside, embracing the peace and freedom it offered.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Tammy (Evans) Murphree; daughter, Mitzi Mccuthison (Gerry); son, Andy Murphree (Patricia); cherished grandson, Holden Murphree; sister, Nancy Holladay; niece, Linzy Witherspoon (Alex); and a circle of devoted friends who will deeply miss his presence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:
Centerville Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 567, Medina, TN 38355
Mt. Zion Cemetery, 517 W. Church Ave., Medina, TN 38355
