Michael Edward Nash

Michael Nash, a loving father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed scholar, passed away on 4/14/2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication. He touched the lives of many through his work, his service, and his unwavering presence.

Born on 11/17/1946, raised in Sayre, PA by Joseph and Alice (McNamara) Nash, Mike led a life marked by a passion for books and after serving his country in the Army, Sgt. "Rock" Nash dedicated over 30 years to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. He was one of the many early responders during 9/11, embodying bravery and selflessness in the face of adversity.

A true intellectual, Mike was a scholar at heart, with a love for reading that was unmatched. Despite his stoic demeanor, he had a quick wit and a talent for making others laugh. His kindness and quirky nature endeared him to all who knew him, and his friendship was cherished by many.

In his free time, he found solace in the outdoors, where he was happiest being active and surrounded by nature's beauty. His love for life and his adventurous spirit were an inspiration to those around him.

Mike is survived by his loving his son Matt (Maureen) and grandchildren Keegan, Tarron, and Sabrina, as well as many close friends who will miss him dearly. Though he may be gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 12:00pm - 3:00pm at the Syracuse Polish Home, 915 Park Avenue, Syracuse, New York 13204. In the spirit of Big Mike, this will be an informal event with casual dress and no set agenda. It is a day to remember Mike's life, so those who attend can share some favorite Mike stories / memories. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
