Michael S. O'Connor

Michael S. O'Connor, 67, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Mt. Pleasant, NY. Born on April 15, 1957, in Yonkers, NY, Michael's life was a testament to the love and joy he found in his family and the great outdoors.
Michael's journey began as the son of the late James and Dolores (Madison) O'Connor. His life was enriched by his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl (Stofko) O'Connor, and together they created a legacy of love and laughter. Michael was a devoted father to his children, Michael O'Connor (Kim Roberts), Christopher O'Connor (Michelle), and Melissa Noe (Jimmy), and his niece Nicole Mercado. He reveled in the role of grandfather to Amber, Michael, Joseph, Kaitlyn, Thomas, Allison, Aidan, Ryan, JJ and CJ. He also leaves behind his three brothers, James, Terrance, and Keith O'Connor. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia Mercado. Michael had many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Michael went on to dedicate many years of service as a NY State Highway Foreman on the Hutch Parkway in New Rochelle. His work was not just a job but a part of a community to which he was deeply committed.
Above all, Michael was an avid outdoorsman whose greatest joy was found in the laughter of his grandchildren, whether around a campfire while camping upstate, hunting or fishing. Walking along the beach in Florida with his wife or just simply playing with his dog Bluey. It was only all surpassed by the love he had for his family.
Michael's legacy is one of unwavering love, enduring strength, and the simple pleasures of life. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY. During the Visitation, a Funeral Service & Blessing to honor and celebrate Michael's life will take place at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday, September 13, 2024, family and friends are welcome to gather at Cargain Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before departing at 11:00 a.m. to escort Michael to his final resting place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 209 Truman Road, Yonkers, NY.
