Michael N. Ormseth, 65, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away April 27, 2023, surrounded by his wife and children after a year-long battle with cancer.
Please join Michael's family and friends for a celebration of his life on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Ode to Food. 300 N. Cherapa Place, Sioux Falls, SD. Appetizers and beverages will be provided. Keep it casual, the way Michael would want it.
Michael was born on January 31, 1958, in Sioux Falls, SD, to parents Michael F. Ormseth and Darlene Forrest.
Michael had a successful career in both information technology and sales. He owned his own computer company, Western Micro Systems, was the IT Director at Children’s Care Hospital, and ended his career at Pivot Power, selling diesel engine packages for irrigation. He was known for his ability to be a techie as well as his friendly and strong selling skills.
Outside of work, Michael loved music, stereo equipment, and sports cars. He was especially proud of his 1989 Porsche 911, of which he rebuilt the entire engine. He also loved traveling, especially to New York City and his favorite place on Earth, Cannon Beach, OR.
Michael was a devoted husband to his wife of 9 years, Beth, and a loving father to his four children, Michael (Mikey), Jamie, Kent, and Rachel.
Michael is survived by his wife, Beth (Mriden) Ormseth; parents Michael F. Ormseth and Darlene Forrest; brothers Tom (Valerie) Ormseth, Mark (Laura) Ormseth; and children Mikey (Melanie) Ormseth, Jamie (Scott) Ormseth, Kent Ormseth, Rachel Ormseth, and stepchildren Millie Brower and Mason Reitzel. He dearly loved his six grandchildren Lilli, Hannah, Ethan, Owen, Maya, Charlotte, six nieces and nephews, and his pups Pennie and Coco (who he called his therapy pup as he battled cancer). Michael was a kind and giving husband, son, father, brother, and friend. Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him including the Pivot Power family and special friends Colin Fitzsimmons and Bob Patterson.
A celebration of life will be planned for early June. Please watch social media and the Heritage Funeral Home website for further information or reach out to Beth.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Feeding SD or the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
