Michael Clifford Owens, a loving son, brother, and uncle, and a dedicated and passionate Harley Davidson enthusiast, passed away on August 24, 2023, in Austin, Texas. Born in Wichita, Kansas, on February 28, 1959, to Margie A. Owens and the late Jack Owens, Michael lived a life full of warmth, kindness, and an infectious zest for life that touched all who knew him.
Michael was a graduate of Crockett High School. After graduation, he embarked on a career at Borden's Dairy, where he faithfully served for 40 years. His dedication and commitment to his work were known and appreciated by all his colleagues. Michael was not just an employee; he was a pivotal part of the Borden's Dairy family, providing a sense of unity and camaraderie.
His work ethic extended beyond his professional life. He was a proud Mason at the Onion Creek Lodge, where he was known for his intelligence, gentle nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His contributions to the Lodge were many, and his absence will be deeply felt by his fellow Masons.
Beyond his work and community service, Michael was a passionate Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and had been a proud member of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) for 40 years. His love for the open road and the freedom it offered was a vital part of his identity. Every year in June, he eagerly looked forward to the Republic of Texas (R.O.T.) rally, a gathering of fellow motorcycle enthusiasts and a source of many cherished memories.
Michael's interests were not limited to motorcycles. He shared a special bond with his late father, Jack, over their mutual love for model trains. They spent countless hours collecting and playing with model trains, creating a world of their own within the confines of their home. This shared hobby was a testament to Michael's loving nature and his ability to find joy in the simplest of things.
Michael was a loving family man. He is survived by his dear mother, Margie A. Owens, his younger sister, Janice K. McCarty, and his niece and nephews, Jenny K. Pepper, James E. Pepper, Maxwell A. Pepper, and E.J. McCarty, III. Michael's love for his family was evident in every interaction. He was a protective brother, a caring uncle, and a devoted son.
In Michael Clifford Owens, we remember an intelligent, loving, and gentle soul. His life was marked by his dedication to his work, his love for his family, and his passion for his hobbies. He was a beacon of positivity, a source of inspiration, and a testament to living life to the fullest. His passing will leave a void that cannot be filled, but his memories will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
Private services will be held at a later date.
