Michael Anthony Pace

HOPE VALLEY - Michael Anthony Pace, 78, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Hope Valley, Rhode Island. He was born on June 13, 1947, in Weehawken, New Jersey.

After graduating from high school, Michael proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He went on to build a successful career in the automotive industry, working in various roles before becoming a Service Manager and later a partner in multiple car dealerships. His work ethic, leadership, and business acumen earned him the respect of colleagues and peers throughout his career.

Michael's true passion, however, was martial arts. He began training at the age of 20, embarking on a lifelong journey of discipline, teaching, and mentorship. He eventually opened his own martial arts school, which he operated for more than 35 years. Through his dedication, he trained countless students and helped many of them open their own schools under the Pace Institute of Karate name. His influence extended far beyond technique - he instilled confidence, respect, and perseverance in everyone he taught.

Another great love of Michael's life was fishing. He cherished time spent on the lake, always hopeful for the next big bass. When he wasnt fishing, he could often be found watching fishing shows on television, enjoying the sport in every form.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Barbara Pace; his children, Mike, Andy, and Jesse; his stepchildren, Debbie, Laurie, Kerry, and Christopher; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Justin, Anthony, Taylor, Anna, Brayden, Owen, Cole, Reese, Gianna, Lea, and Carter.

Michael will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend. His legacy lives on through his family, his students, and the many lives he touched with his strength, guidance, and passion.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 4:00pm ~ 7:00pm at Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, RI 02891

Burial will be private.
