Michael E. Packer

Michael E. Packer, of Lock Haven, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a difficult battle with ALS. Mike wore many hats during his 74 years and was known to many by "Ace" and "Coach Packer".
Mike was born on December 13, 1950, to his parents, George and Margaret "Peg" Packer, who preceded him in death.
Mike graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1968 and from Lock Haven University (LHU) in 1972 with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in history. Mike played football in both high school and college and was picked up out of LHU by the New York Jets and the Atlanta Falcons. Football was an important part of Mike's life. He impacted many lives and inspired many student athletes, both on and off the field.
Mike married the love of his life, Paula D. Grubb, on May 20, 1972. Paula preceded him in death on December 21, 2005. Mike taught physical education at Lock Haven High School and was the Athletic Director at both Lock Haven High School and Central Mountain High School, during his 35-year career in education.
Mike was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending St Agnes Catholic Church. When he was not coaching, he loved nothing more than to spend time with his family especially his three grandchildren, Owen Gill, Jackson Gill and Madelynn Barner.
Mike is survived by two daughters, Amanda Packer and Rachael Packer, both of Lock Haven; his sister, Sandy Packer Adams of New York; his sister-in-law, Bonnie (Rich) Crawford of New Jersey; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11 A.M. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 East Walnut St., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
Friends and family of Mike will be received on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.
Private burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lock Haven.
A celebration of life reception for Mike will be announced at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Keystone Central Foundation for purposes of establishing an annual scholarship for a graduating student.
