Michael Anthony Pagni, aged 68, passed away on March 5, 2025, in
Darien, IL, after a life marked by love, creativity, and service. Born on January 29, 1957, in Chicago, IL, Michael was the cherished son of Lorraine Pagni (nee Kolena) and the late Evo Pagni. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of everyone he met, leaving a legacy of kindness and music that will resonate for generations.
Michael's devotion to family was the cornerstone of his life. He was a beloved father to Jonathan (Colene) Pagni and Rachel (Alex) Goldsworthy, and a loving grandfather to Nathan Pagni, Dalis Leavitt, Cody Leavitt and Chloe Burmeister. He was a dedicated professional occupation therapist for over thirty years. His professional experience and caring nature extended to his 95 year old mother as her physical needs became challenging.
The bond Michael shared with his siblings was profound and filled with mutual admiration. He is survived by his caring sister, Camille (Leonard) Kay, and his supportive brother, Kenneth Pagni (Debra Pagni McQueen). His nephew, Lucas Pagni, niece, Cherise (Todd) Ordlock, and nephew, Reid (Jing) Kay, as well as his great-niece, Thalia Ordlock, will carry forward the values Michael instilled in them. Known as a dear friend to many, Michael's absence will be deeply felt in the community that he helped to nurture with his spirit and faith.
A man of many talents, Michael was an accomplished musician whose passion for music was infectious. He had a talent for expressing his faith through the music he played. His album, "Look at What I Know Now," a heartwarming collection of children's songs recorded with his friend Bob Scumaci, showcased his creative spirit and love for children. His music, a blend of joy and storytelling, was a gift to all who had the pleasure of listening. During Christmas, his music would become the centerpiece of family gatherings, where the sounds of carols filled the air with love and tradition.
Michael's faith was a guiding force in his life, providing him with strength and purpose. He lived a faith-filled existence, spreading love and positivity through his actions and relationships. His love for animals, especially dogs, mirrored his gentle and caring nature. He believed in the intrinsic goodness of all creatures and treated them with respect and kindness.
An avid fan of the Moody Blues, Vince Gill, and Bruce Springsteen, Michael found solace and inspiration in their music. His musical interests were diverse, and he could often be found sharing his favorite tunes with friends and family, creating a soundtrack to the moments they cherished together.
Described by those who knew him as faith-filled, loving, and creative, Michael Anthony Pagni will be remembered for the way he illuminated the lives of those around him. His presence was a source of comfort and joy, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he has left behind.

In celebration of Michael's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Chapel Service will be held 10:00 am on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Modell Funeral Home. Burial services at Clarendon Hills Cemetery will immediately follow the Chapel Service.
