Faribault - Michael Lee Pautzke, age 60, of Faribault, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, in Northome, MN.

Michael was born on November 24, 1963 in Minneapolis, MN and was adopted by parents, Donavon and Elaine (Johnson) Pautzke. They lived in Wells at the time but moved to Northfield shortly after. Mike played varsity hockey and graduated from Northfield High School. His affinity for automobiles led him to Dakota County Technical School, where he honed his skills to embark on what would become a four-decade long career as a mechanic with Apple Valley GMC.

Mike married Renee Greene of Faribault in 1990 and they had one son, Christopher. They later divorced. His zeal was not confined to the garage; it spilled onto the racetracks of Elko Speedway and other drag racing tracks across the country. An ardent NASCAR enthusiast, Mike shared his passion with a community of fellow fans, cultivating friendships and memories. When not enthralled by the thrilling rush of racing cars, he could be found cherishing the tranquility of nature through hunting, an activity that provided solace and joy in equal measure.

Mike is survived by his son, Christopher Pautzke of Baxter; father and step-mother, Donavon (Jeanne Cloud) Pautztke of Northfield; siblings, Michelle Pautzke of Elko New Market and Mark (Majesty) Pautzke of Tempe, AZ; and step-siblings, Scott (Linda) Cloud of Northfield, Sue (Randy) Ernste of Faribault and Steve of Farmington. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine; and step-sister-in-law, Margaret Cloud.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and a reception will follow at the funeral home.
