Michael Shayne Pemberton was born September 10, 1971 on Kelly Airforce Base in San Antonio, and died unexpectedly on July 26, 2025 in Fredericksburg. His family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.

Shayne is survived by his parents Donna Watson and Norman Pemberton of Sherman, his daughters Stori, Grace and Lydia of South Carolina, Madison of Little Elm, and his loving wife Dayana and their two boys Levi and Luke.

Shayne led a very full, rich life, and always had colorful stories to share. Sometimes a self-deprecating story, other times about the pranks he had pulled on his friends. All who knew him have a story to tell about his outrageous pranks and stunts, which could be as maddening as they were funny. It was impossible to stay mad at him when he flashed that mischievous grin at you.

Shayne's own story blossomed during the summer after high school, when he began roofing houses. He said that those few weeks on a hot Texas roof in August was the reason he joined the Navy. For Shayne, the Navy was the beginning of a series of achievements that would continue to carry him on to greater successes. Shayne trained as a Hospital Navy Corpsman at Camp LeJeune and served as Corpsman to the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. While serving aboard the U.S.S. Sumpter, he was given the Naval Achievement Medal, which included a glowing letter from his Commanding Officer, describing his "devotion to duty" and "leadership by example that earned him the respect of juniors and seniors alike."

While in South Carolina, Shayne married Dawn Lucas and returned to Texas to start a family. With Stori in arms and Grace on the way, Shayne worked full time and got his Bachelor of Nursing at Baylor. Sweet Lydia soon followed. We were later blessed with Shayne and Yolanda's daughter Madison, and with Shayne and Dayana's two boys, Levi and Baby Luke. His greatest joy came from his six children.

Shayne became a Cardiac Cath nurse and remained in his field until recent years, when he trained as a Vascular Clinical Specialist with Terumo. Shayne developed many enduring friendships through his work, and was revered by his colleagues and peers.

Outside of work, Shayne was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades who always had a project going; from remodeling houses to building decks, and everything in-between. He also proudly raised award-winning longhorn cattle, showing them through the American Longhorn Association with his younger children.

Shayne's favorite quote, "The world steps aside for the man who knows where he is going," perfectly describes Shayne's momentum in life. Always moving forward, growing and improving. And so humble, we never knew just how successful Shayne really was in his endeavors, except by the words of others. Thank you to everyone for sharing your memories of Shayne with our family. His memory will live on in our stories.

Donna, Lisa and family I am so very sorry. My heart aches for all of you. Memories of Shayne in his younger years are flooding my brain like instant replays. I think my favorites are the times spent at Lake Texoma and of course, the tongue piercing incident. I pray you're all able to find peace and comfort in knowing we'll all see Shayne again. He's just gone on ahead of us. My thoughts, prayers, love and hugs are sent across the miles. Peace be with you all!
Always, Barbara Winters
