Michael Howard Penton

Michael (Mike) Howard Penton, 65, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Baptist Hospital after battling multiple illnesses.

Mike loved hunting and nature watching, as well as visiting with friends in the breakfast crowd at Country Express and Scotts Outdoors. He was a devoted family man and dearly loved his family. He was employed by Santa Rosa County Road and Bridge as an equipment operator.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Bobbie Penton; his paternal grandparents, Rufus and Mary Lee Penton; and his maternal grandparents, Lucious and Willie Mae Whitfield.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Katraina Penton; a daughter and son-in-law, Carrie (C.J.) and Tyler Godwin; the light of his life, his granddaughter, Loralei Godwin; his sister, Diann (Ricky) Target; two precious nieces, Harley (Ty) Ballard and Haven (Lynkin Raines) Target; two very special grandnephews, Truett Raines and Beau Ballard; and many other treasured relatives. He will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jay Funeral Chapel, with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Tim Floyd officiating.

Burial will be at Walling Cemetery.
