Michael Rick Perry, 74, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Johnson County Rehabilitation Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. Born on April 4, 1951, in Ottawa, Kansas, Rick was the son of Homer and Mattie (Evans) Perry.
Rick's professional journey as a heavy equipment mechanic reflected his steady hands, problem-solving mind, and unwavering work ethic. Known for his dedication and craftsmanship, he earned the respect of his colleagues and left an indelible mark in his field.
Above all else, Rick was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Perry, who stood by his side throughout their life together. His legacy continues through his children, Shawn Perry and his wife Alicia of Wellsville, Leslie Scott of Ottawa, and Bryan Perry of Ottawa. He took immense pride in being a grandfather to nine grandchildren: Brooke, Nathan, Zac, Wyatt, Hayley, Hunter, Brynlie, Jaiden, and Freya. Additionally, Rick cherished his role as a great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren: Zoie, Theodore, Amelia, Carlie, and Scarlett. Each grandchild and great-grandchild held a special place in his heart. Rick also leaves behind two brothers, Chris Perry and Stan Perry, as well as a sister, Melaina Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Malinda.
Rick will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication, and the profound love he had for his family. His presence will be missed, but his legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
A visitation honoring Rick's memory will be held on Monday, January 19th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas, where family will greet friends.
