Michael A. Dunks Philpott, 87, of Bristol, widower of Lucille Berube-Philpott, died on Sunday (November 30, 2025) after a short stay at The Pines of Bristol. Dunks was born on February 11, 1938, in Bristol and was the youngest of two children of the late Michael B. and Cecelia (Keough) Philpott. A lifelong Bristol resident, he was a graduate of Bristol High School where he excelled in basketball, baseball, and track. He was active as a youth in soap box derby and was the local champion in 1952 which earned him a trip to the nationals in Akron, OH. Dunks worked locally in construction, site-work, and homebuilding and had a longtime association with Tommy Catucci and Ludlow Development. Although he never had children of his own, he treated his nieces and nephews as his own and was

very involved in all of their school and sports activities. Dunks is survived by his sister: Mary Sklarsky-Shorette of Bristol. He is also survived by two nieces where were like daughters, Marcia Collin and husband, Joe of Bristol, and Marianne McCarthy and husband, Mark of Burlington; great-nieces and great-nephews who considered him their grandfather: Jessica and Nicole Collin and Jonathan and Hunter Zeiner; great-great-niece: Aspen Zeiner who he absolutely adored and enjoyed their Monday rides; step-son: Dennis Berube; and his foster son, Kenneth Roy with whom he looked forward to his Sunday night meals. He was predeceased by his nephew: Michael Sklarsky, and step-sons: Paul and Roger Berube. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Thursday (December 4, 2025) between 4 and 6 p.m. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
