Michael Dean Plummer, known affectionately to his friends and family as Mike, was born on April 6, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri. He lived a life characterized by passion, dedication, and a deep commitment to those he loved. Mike passed away on August 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.
A proud graduate of Lee's Summit High School in 1979, Mike went on to carve out a successful career as the owner of Plumb Construction. His reputation in the community was built on the belief that if Mike couldn't fix it, it simply wasn't fixable. His hands-on approach and expertise in construction made him a valued figure and a trusted resource for countless individuals.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mike was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle R. Plummer, and their daughters: Andrea Plummer, Brooke and Josh Wolfe, Christina and Aaron Plummer, and Daphne and Tess Plummer. His familial bonds extended to his grandchildren, Gracelyn, Linkin, and Owen (coming soon), who brought immense joy to his life. The presence of his siblings—Debbie and Mike Pankow, Lisa and Terry Prater, and Scott Wilette—and his niece and nephews—Brenna and Jesse Davis, Melissa and Zach Hill, Stephanie and Dave Nixdorf—as well as many great-nieces and nephews, added to the close-knit family he cherished.
Outside of work and family, Mike found great joy in his hobbies. He had a passion for fishing, four-wheeling, and attending Chiefs games, all of which reflected his vibrant spirit and love for the outdoors. Days spent at the lake on his boat and enjoying trap shooting were among his favorite ways to relax. Mike also loved watching his grandkids’ activities—a true testament to his devotion to family and the joy they shared together.
Mike’s life will be celebrated on August 15, 2025, at a Celebration of Life service held at Longview Funeral Home, located at 12700 SE Raytown Rd, Kansas City, MO 64149, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All who knew him are invited to attend and honor the remarkable man he was.
In his passing, Michael Dean Plummer leaves not only memories of cherished moments but also the enduring impact he had on the lives of those around him. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his skilled craftsmanship, and the joy he brought to each gathering. His legacy will continue to live on through the hearts of his loved ones and the many people whose lives he touched.
