Michael Anthony Pracht

Retired Sergeant Michael Anthony Pracht, 66 passed away May 27, 2025 at his home, Larned. He was born August 2, 1958 in Denver, Colorado; the son of Gilbert E. and Bonnie Lee Urban Pracht. A Larned resident for the last 10 years, moving from Hays; he was a truck driver. In 1989 he joined the Army National Guard and over the next twenty years served in Desert Storm, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operating Enduring Freedom. He was a member of the VFW and former post commander of VFW Post #7271. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, skiing, fishing, camping and anything he could consider "tinkering". He was an excellent marksman, liked to watch NCIS, was a volunteer fireman for Ellis County, and his favorite person was his mother. Survivors include; his mother, Bonnie Pracht, Akron, IA; two daughters, Tara (Kenneth) Ellis, Larned and Heather (Kirby) Salmans, La Crosse, a son, Andrew Pracht, Great Bend; three sisters, Ethea Brennan, Osawatomie, Julie (Michael) Huber, Akron, IA, Jennifer Kain, Whittier, CA and four grandchildren, Dominic Pelaccio, Michael Pelaccio, Conner Hicks and Kaitlyn Hicks. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Debi Blake presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Beckwith Mortuary.
