Michael Lee Pratt, 72, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health. He was born on March 14, 1953, in Floyd, Virginia, the son of the late Lawrence and Carrie Pratt.

Michael graduated from Floyd County High School in 1971. He later completed specialized training in Florida to become a commercial truck driver and built a long career behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and reliability, he earned the deep trust of his employers throughout his professional life. His brother Richard fondly recalls Michael's first job detailing cars, where his exceptional work ethic shone so brightly that his boss trusted him to take vehicles home, confident they would return in showroom condition. A lifelong car enthusiast, Michael loved automobiles and was a passionate fan of drag racing. He even competed himself, racing his 1972 Ford Grand Torino at Elk Creek Dragway in Virginia. Michael was a gentle, loving man with a fun sense of humor that endeared him to those closest to him. He cherished the outdoors and, before his health declined, could often be found meticulously tending to his yard with great care.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Linda Crotts Pratt of Roanoke, Virginia; his daughter, Amanda Sowers (Joshua) of Floyd, Virginia; and his cherished granddaughters, Joselyn, Anna, Alivia, and Ayriana Sowers. He also leaves behind his brother, Richard Pratt (Janet); four beloved stepchildren, Don Charles, April Harrah (Chris), Tabby Pratt (David), and Susy Charles-DaSilva (Avalee); and numerous step-grandchildren who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.

In his final days, Michael was lovingly cared for by his wife and daughter, who kept vigil by his side, watching over each breath during his last three days. The family is deeply grateful to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate support, with special thanks to nurse aide Pam Hinkle, who went above and beyond to provide exceptional care and comfort to both Michael and his family. The family would also like to express heartfelt thanks to Living Water Christian Church for their unwavering support during Michael's illness, which helped lighten the load in meaningful ways.

A celebration of life will be held at Living Water Christian Church, 1520 Swimmer Lane, Salem, Virginia, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2 p.m. Michael will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who lived life with integrity, humor, and a deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
