Michael F. Prendergast Jr. (Mickey), a fiercely dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and proud Navy veteran, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 24, 2025. He was 79. Mickey was born on August 17, 1946, and was a proud native of Charlestown, MA and was most recently residing in Dighton. He was a man defined by unconditional love and unwavering strength. After years of valiantly facing health battles, he has finally been called to rest by his Heavenly Father. His family will forever cherish the memory of his relentless fight to remain with those he loved so dearly-a testament to his faithfulness and devotion. A true patriot, Mickey served his country as a Seabee with the U.S. Navy MCB 62, including overseas service in Dong Ha, Vietnam until 1971. For his service, among others he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After his military service, he dedicated his career to his community as a devout member of IBEW Local 2222 and an employee of New England Telephone until his retirement. Mickey had a remarkable gift for non-judgmental love. He was always there for anyone who needed him, valuing every person in his life unconditionally. He will be sorely missed, and his family remains indebted to him for his forever faithfulness, love, and dedication. ________________________________________ Family He was predeceased by his parents, Michael F. Prendergast Sr. and June Prendergast. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy A. (Johnson) Prendergast; his brother, John T. Prendergast; his children, Keith M. Prendergast and Paula M. Sargent; and his stepson, Jay Walsh. He was a cherished Grandfather to his five grandchildren: Samantha Sargent, Charles (CJ) Sargent, Morgan Prendergast, Michael Prendergast, and John Prendergast. He leaves behind his two Daughters in Law: Beth Walsh and Brenda Prendergast as well as Sister-in-Law Yennie Prendergast and Son-in-Law Chris Marsh. A wake will be held at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, MA on Monday, September 29th from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Services will begin the following day at O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, MA at 11 am, followed by a burial with full military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 pm.
