Michael Quinn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by James R Baskwill Funeral Home, Inc. on Sep. 30, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Michael Quinn, 90, a resident of Hatboro for 56 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sept 29, 2025.

He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Quinn, daughters, Kathleen Platt (Richard Platt), Cheryl Quinn, Karen Carr (Rick Ianieri), grandchildren, Jarrett Carr (Cameron Carr), Ryan Platt, Rick Ianieri, Jr. (Nicole Ianieri), Valerie Natter, Madison Carr, Sarah Platt, Kyle Natter and two great-grandsons.

He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Quinn of Horsham and dozens of adored nieces and nephews.

Born in Philadelphia, Mike married Josephine Gambino on October 1, 1960 and would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary later this year!

He attended Doylestown High School after moving up from Philadelphia where he attended St. Timothy parish.

Enlisting at the age of 16, Mike received an "honorable discharge" from the United States Air Force where he served as the youngest sergeant in the Korean War,.

Mike worked at many local moving companies throughout his career and, notably, worked until age 85 when he was forced to retire because of the COVID19 shut-downs in 2020.

Lovingly referred to as "Poppy," his family was what he was most proud of. Mike looked forward to and enjoyed the holidays where he was sure to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and most recently great-grandchildren. Father to three daughters, Mike was naturally protective, strict and prematurely grey. When the grandchildren came along, Mike had mellowed some and was thrilled to have both grandsons and grandaughters to enjoy. He received more gifts most recently as he was blessed with two great-grandsons!

Mike worked in the moving business for over sixty years. He could pack-up a house like no other. He never left home without his tape gun and a cardboard box and became quite the collector of antiques, furniture and household items. He loved a treasure and most importantly loved sharing his "finds" with whomever was interested.

Kind, loving and caring, Mike never asked for help but was the first person to lend a helping hand. He recently loved reminiscing about his ball-playing days in Philly and his days "on the job" at the moving companies. Mike and his "story-telling" will be missed by all who loved him.

His family will receive relatives and friends after 10 am, Friday, October 3 in Baskwill Funeral Home, 20 W. Montgomery Ave, (half block west of York Rd) Hatboro, PA 19040, where his memorial service will be held at 11 am. Interment will follow in Hatboro Cemetery.
