Michael Ramsburg Obituary

Michael Thomas Ramsburg

August 6, 1960 - January 4, 2026

Mr. Michael (Mike) T Ramsburg, 65 of Homestead FL, previously from Hedgesville WV and Frederich MD passed away after a short and courageous fight with cancer on January 4, 2026.

Mike was the loving husband of Kimberly B. Ramsburg since 2009. Born August 6, 1960, in Frederick MD. He was the son of the late John D. Ramsburg and Frances Joann Hartman Ramsburg.

Mike was the beloved father of Jason M. Ramsburg (Tonya) and Jeffrey M. Ramsburg and stepfather to Brooke R. Shelton and James (Jamie) McDonald. He was also "Pappy Mike" to Hayden R. Ramsburg and Harper S. Ramsburg and step-grandfather to Brenden S. Shelton, Colton L. Shelton, Xander J. McDonald and Ezra W. McDonald. Mike is also survived by his sister, Roxanne K. Ramsburg, one niece Alyson C. Cannon, and his father-in-law, Roger L. Barnhart.

In addition to his father, he is proceeded in death by maternal grandparents, Howard H. Hartman and Lenore Rice Hartman Lasiter and his paternal grandmother Nellie M. Ramsburg Holt and mother-in-law Billie Barnhart

Mike graduated from Frederick High School, Frederick, MD in June 1978. Immediately after graduation he began his career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Washington DC where he worked for 32 years before retiring in December 2010. After his retirement he continued to work part-time with Marriott Corporation in Hagerstown MD and Homestead FL.

During his children's younger years, Mike could be found at every baseball game, dance recital, school play and whatever else his children were involved in. Mike then continued to follow Brenden and Colton throughout their football, baseball and basketball games and could often be found keeping stats and calculating their productivity on spreadsheets. Mike's last smile most recently came while watching Colton along with the Musselman High School boys' basketball team winning the championship at the KSA Holiday Basketball Tournament in Orlando FL.

He had a lifelong love for the Baltimore Orioles and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. Mike also loved to travel the world with Kim. Once Kim turned him on to cruising there was no stopping him. For every trip or sporting event you could expect to see one of his famous scrapbooks documenting the event with pictures and his funny comments. Family members who have received these well-planned scrapbooks will cherish them forever.

Mike was also known for his quick wit and sense of humor. Kim would always say "Mike was a wealth of useless information so get him on your trivial pursuit team".

Mike will also be missed by his Walkersville Crew, Steve Allen and Bernie and his special lifelong friend Rob Pyles.

A Celebration of Life will be held in May 2026 in Frederick MD.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your local Animal Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.

I worked for the FBI in the NO field office and it was thru our work that I met Mike. He was one of the nicest guys I ever met. I always looked fwd in attending training at QT, bc I would get to see Mike and other HQ personnel I came to know over the years. Heaven got a special angel, and my heart hurts with the news of his passing. RIP Mike and know I am a better person to have known you and glad I was able to call you my friend.

So very sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Mike was this fall in Morgantown sitting in the pouring rain watching Colton play ball. Hard to believe he did not even know he had cancer that evening. Prayers for all that knew and loved him!!!
