Michael R. Rapinac, 79, Hibbing, formerly longtime resident of Buhl, Minn., died Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home in Hibbing.

He was born April 4, 1946, to John and Antonia (Maras) Rapinac in Hibbing, Minn. Michael attended Hibbing Schools. After high school, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy. Michael was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic with Minorca Mine. He married Dawn (Marshall) Rapinac on August 15, 1992. Michael loved fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, working on things and putzing in his garage.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Rapinac, Hibbing, MN, children, Kelly (Dawn Brighid) Rapinac, Brooklyn, NY, Amy Garcia, Zimmerman, MN, John (Emily Johnson) Rapinac, Hibbing, MN, and Hannah (Carston) Rapinac-Erickson, Roseville, MN, siblings, Winnifred (Bob) Bianconi, Savage, MN, Celine Keenan, Edina, MN, sister-in-law, Marlene Rapinac, New Hope, MN, brother-in-law, Larry Skelly, four grandchildren, Ross Garcia, Todd Garcia, Lainea Rapinac, and Emmett Rapinac, along with his nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John Rapinac, and his sister, Patti Skelly.

A celebration of Michael's life will be from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. March 21, 2026, at Sammy's Pizza in Hibbing. A private interment will take place a later date in Lakeview Cemetery in Buhl, Minn.
