Michael Rappenecker Obituary

Michael Eugene Rappenecker, 73, of Burlington died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 15, 1951, in Burlington, he was the son of Donald E. and Mildred "Midge" A. (Hallgren) Rappenecker. Michael graduated from Burlington High School in 1970.

Michael worked for United Parcel Service, City Parks department mowing grass and at Southeastern Community College as a groundskeeper for many years until his retirement.

Michael was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He raced radio control cars, enjoyed going to his sister's house, watching TV and he liked going to 34 raceways. He had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include his sister Donna (Harold) Badtram of West Burlington; four nephews Brian and Kevin Klein, David Lee Rappenecker and Donnie Rappenecker; one niece Danielle Rappenecker and one great nephew Kaleb Klein.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Rappenecker and a sister in infancy.

The funeral service for Michael will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Lunning Chapel with Chaplain Andrew Oldfield officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for a memorial marker.
