Mike was born to Woodrow and Lois Reddick on November 13, 1943 at Beaver Memorial Hospital in Beaver, Oklahoma. His arrival made the Reddick family of Sandy and Jack, his older siblings, complete.
Balko is where Mike grew up. He attended the Balko school system from first grade through his graduation in 1962. While attending Balko Mike played football, basketball, and baseball for the Bison. Baseball was his love. He was a gifted catcher. As a teenager, Mike became a huge New York Yankees fan. He loved them so much that one day, he and his brother, Jack, felt a little rebellious and decided to ditch the chores their father had given them, and drive to Kansas City to watch the Kansas City Athletics play the New York Yankees. Seeing the Yankees play was well worth any punishment they might receive when they got home.
Mike attended school with the love of his life, JoAnn Neufeld, at Balko. They became high school sweethearts and were married December 22, 1962. Because they were married at a young age, they spent the first few weeks living in the basement of Jo's parents, Milton and Leona. Mike found out early on that Milton had an ornery side. Mike recalled when he and Jo returned from their honeymoon, they were awakened by exploding firecrackers Milton threw down the stairs as an alarm.
Mike continued his education at Enid Business College. While attending college, Mike and Jo added a son, Curtis and a daughter, Mitzi to their family. He graduated with a Business of Commercial Science degree in May 1966. While earning his degree, Mike's work ethic proved to be strong. To achieve his goal, Mike put himself through college by working as a bowling alley bookkeeper, a hotel bookkeeper, and even as a door-to-door vacuum salesman.
Mike and Jo added Amarillo, San Antonio, and Spearman to the places they lived. He worked for Mason Jett, CPA in Spearman. This spawned the idea for starting his own tax service, Mike Reddick Consulting in 1973 in Beaver. Mike and Jo also had a son, Michael this same year. Mike had a head for numbers. He performed not only tax planning, but financial planning for many of his clients. Mike was a private man, but he enjoyed visiting with his clients and getting to know them and many are his dearest friends. He was genuinely interested in learning their stories. His life's goal was to help his clients succeed.
Mike was a member of the Beaver Jaycees and the Beaver United Methodist Church. One of Mike's favorite pastimes was playing cards with lifelong card buddies every week for the past 45 years.
Mike leaves a legacy of being who he was. He always said what he meant whether you liked it or not. And he lived his life exactly the way he wanted to live it.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Reddick; parents, Woodrow and Lois Reddick; brothers-in law, Ray Turner, Don Neufeld, Harlo Janzen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Neufeld, Norma Janzen; niece, Carrie Cramer; nephews Todd Turner and Thad Turner.
Mike is survived by Curtis Reddick of Beaver, OK; Mitzi Hoover and husband, Tracy of Rogers, AR; Michael Reddick and wife, Davina of Beaver, OK; sister Sandy Turner of Beaver; brother Jack Reddick of Beaver; grandchildren: Gerrit, Celina, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Danika, Kinlea, Noah, Aidan, and Ian, and two great grandchildren.
Mike passed away April 19, 2023, surrounded by his family at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City after a brief illness.
