Michael E. Reese

11/22/1952 - 12/21/2025

Michael E. Reese, 73, passed away on December 21, 2025, at The University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on November 22, 1952, to Morris Reese and Verlia Vogelsong. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Carol Toothacker.

Mike started in the propane gas business in 1973. He worked for Cal-Gas and AmeriGas Propane for 16 years until he decided he wanted his own retail plants to begin his legacy. He built two in Ohio, six in Michigan, and two in Montana. He was a partner with two trucking companies.

Mike loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed boating and flying his two airplanes he built himself. His latest project was his hobby farm in Michigan with his green machines. He and Carol also loved watching and feeding the deer, bears and birds.

Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Reese; children, Melissa (Jason) Buckholtz, Melanie (Kevin) Peterson; grandchildren, Charlie Abate, Holly Peterson; mother, Verlia Vogelsong; two sisters-in-law; five nieces and one nephew.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Morris Reese; stepfather, Glen Vogelsong; brothers, Keith Reese, and Jim Reese.

Visitation and services will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 1-3 p.m., at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, at 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio 43537. There will be a time of sharing starting at 3 p.m. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
