Michael Reilly Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 27, 2026.
Michael J. Reilly, Sr. was called home after a long and hard battle with Parkinson's Disease on February 17, 2026.

He was a father, brother, son, and devoted Christian.

Michael was born in Johnstown, PA on January 2, 1960, the son of the late Joanne (Cobaugh) McIntire and Daniel Reilly.

Michael moved to Erie at a young age. He graduated from East High School in 1978. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and was on the carrier USS America. After four years of service, he was honorably discharged in 1982. Michael successfully completed the Electrician Journeyman program and was a member of IBEW Local #56 until 2000, when he was no longer able to work due to the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease.

Michael was a devoted family man and persevered through all of the struggles brought on by his disease. He had many good years in his daughter's house and in his own apartment until his health declined.

Michael will be remembered for the love of his children. He enjoyed collecting comic books, coins, stamps, and other unique collectibles. He liked a good dad joke, the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially mean Joe Green, and John Wayne and westerns. He enjoyed being a wise ass to his children and anyone with a sense of humor.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Joanne(Cobaugh) McIntire; his stepmother, Sherry Reilly; and his brother, Kevin.

Michael is survived by his three children: Jennifer, Michael (Bethany), and TJ (Michelle), as well as his former wife, Susan Reilly; his father, Daniel Reilly; his brothers, Daniel (Mia), Patrick (Sandy), Jim (Karen), and Kyle (Hope); his stepfather, Tom McIntire; his nieces and nephews. In addition, he leaves behind four loving grandchildren, Ella, Conor, Harper, and Kenzie.

Understanding that his brain was unique, Michael chose to contribute to the advancement of medicine. He donated his body to LECOM.

We would ask that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P. O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
