NORMAL - Michael S. "Mick" Robinson, 83, of Normal, passed away at 9:01 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Clinton.

Mick was born on December 21, 1941 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Sherman and Mabel (Arteman) Robinson.

Surviving are his wife, Julie Robinson of Normal; children, Scott Robinson of Athens, Alabama, Michelle (Tim) Klisares of The Villages, Florida, and Brandon Robinson of Savannah, Georgia; step-children, Andrea (Gary) Fugitt of East Peoria and Jill (Justin) Smith of Normal; grandchildren, Evan (Karena) Klisares, Adam (Kelly) Klisares, Mason Robinson, Corryne Bohlmann, Drew Bohlmann, Tucker Smith, and Marley Smith; bonus grandson, Manuel Garcia; great-grandchildren, Caden Klisares, Aliya Klisares, and Hulston Klisares; sister, Aleta (Don) Batty; brother, Denny Robinson; Sharon McGinnes, Scott and Michelle's mother; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Austin Klisares; Lee Robinson, Brandon's mother; and sister-in-law, Janet Robinson.

Mick was an entrepreneur, owning first Mike Robinson Typography and later Mike Robinson Construction. He and Julie also established a nonprofit, "The Kings Carpenters," for their mission work.

From an early age, Mick was known to look out for the underdog, so it wasn't surprising when he began mission work in the 90s. He worked in Haiti, Cuba, Mexico, Alaska, and many continental states. He was proud of his work in Matamoros, Mexico, leading groups to build "Casitas" for those turned away at the border. People are relegated to live in the "Derecho Humanos," merely an old garbage dump. After Mexico became too dangerous, he moved on to working with Disciples Home Missions, doing disaster relief. With them, he also led the transformation of Real Faith CC in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and the building of Lynnville CC in Lynnville, Illinois. Mick did a great deal of hurricane rebuilding, including during Katrina.

He attended Catholic schools, graduating from Trinity High School in 1960. He entered the United States Army after high school and was on call for the Bay of Pigs invasion. Mick was an Armor Intelligence Specialist and a sharpshooter.

Mick was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Bloomington since 1996.

He touched so many countless lives, whether helping them or they being on his mission team. As a friend said, he was surely greeted by a "Well done, my good and faithful servant.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Tunnel to Towers, or First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Bloomington.
