Michael Roggenbuck
Michael "Mick" George Roggenbuck, age 84, of Harbor Beach, passed away January 13, 2025, at Autumnwood of Deckerville. Michael was born at home on February 22, 1940, to the late Henry and Magdalene (Holdwick) Roggenbuck. Michael and Patricia (O'Neill) were married on June 27, 1964, in Chelsea, MI. They were married for 60 years. He attended Ashmore Country School and Our Lady of Lake Huron High School.
Mick was a lifelong farmer, starting with his brothers, then continuing with his sons and grandchildren. In 1964, he took over Helena Farm Supply, his father's fertilizer and chemical business. Mick served on multiple boards, including Bayside Beans, Michigan Sugar, and Farm Bureau. He also served on the Sand Beach Township Zoning Board and was a Betaseed salesman. He was a parishioner at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Helena, and he was a member of Holy Name of Mary Parish Men's Club. Beyond his family and life's work, Mick enjoyed playing euchre, trucking cattle, and clearing woods with his excavator. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, whether on cruises or crop tours.
Michael is survived by his wife, Patricia; and five children: Pauline (Neal) Essenmacher, David (Gail) Roggenbuck, Douglas (Debbie) Roggenbuck, Diane (Duane) Maurer, and James (Stacey) Roggenbuck; 18 grandchildren: Maria (Daryl) Essenmacher, Jonathan (Janae) Essenmacher, Brian (Caitie) Essenmacher, Derek (Dana) Essenmacher, Travis (Whitnee) Essenmacher, Jillian (Matthew) Quintano, Ashton (Emily) Roggenbuck, Jessica (Michael) Sekerak, Shaun (Rebecca) Roggenbuck, Krista (Clint) Balcer, Jolene (Korrey) Lochrie, Julie (Harold) Patterson, Lauren (Michael) Lackowski, Kara (Chris) Ratajczak Jr., Justine (Jared) Paugh, Madison Roggenbuck (Clark Brady), Kade Roggenbuck (Maggie Koroleski), Colin Roggenbuck (Nichole Gornowich); and 31 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: three brothers, Robert, John, and Joseph Roggenbuck; two sisters, Evelyn (Roy) Stein and Jean Merkler; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Roggenbuck and Eleanor Roggenbuck; and in-laws, Susan (Dale) Scherger, Teresa (Michael) Vermeersch, Lynn (Jack) O'Neill, Ted (Mary) O'Neill, Joseph (Barb) O'Neill; and many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Magdalene Roggenbuck; parents-in-law, Harold and Betty (Thuis) O'Neill; and by his siblings: William Roggenbuck, Barthol (Geraldine) Roggenbuck, Mary June Roggenbuck, Margaret Ann Roggenbuck, Gerald (Judy) Roggenbuck, Ronald Roggenbuck; and in-laws, Linda C. Roggenbuck, Linda M. Roggenbuck, and Donald Merkler.
The funeral Mass for Michael Roggenbuck will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Helena, with pastor Father Kevin Wojciechowski officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation for Michael will be on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home in Harbor Beach, with the prayer service conducted at 7 p.m., and on Tuesday at St. Anthony's in Helena from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
