Michael Romano, 74, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 6, 1951, Michael was the eldest child of Sabatino and Mary Romano. Growing up in Brooklyn, he quickly became known for his charisma, reliability, and natural warmth. He worked hard, treated others with respect, and had a gift for making people feel at ease. To know Michael was to feel welcomed — and he was beloved by all.

In his youth, Michael was an aspiring baseball player proudly wearing number 9, and he remained a devoted Yankees fan throughout his life. In his later years, he found joy playing tennis with his closest friends in Queens and Long Island, cherishing the camaraderie as much as the game itself. He believed in living fully and appreciating everyday moments, a philosophy that shaped how he loved and cared for his family.

Michael married the love of his life, Amy, in 1972, and during their 53 year marriage, they built a home filled with laughter, strength, and devotion. He is survived by his wife, Amy, and daughters Sloane (Thomas) and Sola (Tommy), who will forever cherish his guidance and unconditional love.

Michael was the oldest of four siblings. He is predeceased by his brother and sister-in law, Joseph Romano (Ann Marie), and is survived by his sisters, Cathy Galeano (Carl) and Lisa Case (Brian). He was a proud uncle to Lori Abramowitz (Bernie), Bonni Abramowitz (Damiano), Krystle Romano, Joseph Romano (Alexandra), Lawrence Abramowitz, Nicole Case (Dylan), Matthew Galeano (Nicole), Anthony Galeano (Amanda), and Marissa Case (Christopher).

Above all, Michael was a devoted father. Some of his happiest memories were simple, meaningful rituals: Friday night Blockbuster trips with Sola, Saturday morning McDonald’s breakfasts with Sloane, and special evenings at Rothmann’s enjoying a burger and wine with his son-in-law Thomas, who he considered a son. He loved good meals and great company, whether it was Chinese food at Wo-Hop, or a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity, or anything new that caught his eye.

Michael’s legacy is one of generosity, loyalty, humor, and presence. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him — but the stories, love, and laughter he shared will live on always.
