Michael Joseph Ryce Jr.

Michael Joseph Ryce Jr., 79, of New Stanton, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was born on June 21, 1946, in North Braddock, the son of the late Michael Joseph and Mary (Handoga) Ryce Sr. Michael was a member of Word of Life Church, Greensburg. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, trout fishing, classic cars, and had such a great sense of humor, but most of all spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Schantz, Mary Mence, and his late wife, Karen Ryce.

Michael will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Kathy (Curry-Houser) Ryce, his son, Jeremy Varhola of Greensburg, daughters, Amanda (Justin) Hoeppner of Woodburn IN, Brittany (Brian) Cremeens of Trafford, his bonus children, Samantha, Dale, Kerri, Megan, and many nieces and nephews.

Michael was a proud grandfather to Justine, Janelle, Julia, Jade, Luke, Faith, Audrina, Callie, great-grandchildren, Andrew, Grayson, and Sawyer, who he loved all dearly.

Family and friends will be received from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Vaia Funeral Home Inc., 463 Athena Dr. Delmont, (724-468-1177). A service for Michael will be held at 10:30 on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the funeral home.
