INDIAN LAND, SC – Mr. Michael Sbarbari, age 68, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026. He was born on September 6, 1957, a son of Michelina Cutaia Sbarbari and the late Louis Alfred Sbarbari. Michael was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, and he loved each member as a brother; especially, Richie Sanna. He always enjoyed helping with the Fish fry they had each year even though he hated fish. Michael enjoyed swimming, going to the movies with one of his best buddies, Warner, and eating at Big View Diner with his mom, sister Linda, and friends, Maureen and MaryAnn. He loved all the staff and the owner of Big View. Playing Santa Claus every Christmas Eve for Warner and Maureen’s grandchildren was a highlight in his life. Family and friends remember Michael as loyal, kindhearted, would do anything for anyone, and had a 24-carat heart of gold. Spending time with his buddies, Frank, Danny, Big Mike, Darren, Yukiko, and Warner was very important to him. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friends, Dustin and Diana (lovingly known as D & D). First and foremost, Michael loved God and his church, St. Matthews Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC and he also loved his family and friends dearly.
Michael is survived by his mother, Michelina Sbarbari; sister, Linda Gattola; aunt, Theresa Crispino; uncle, Frank Muzzarisi; cousins, Elizabeth Mazzarisi, Charles Mazzarisi, and Denise Dirlik (Mike) and her children, Olivia and Liliana; and his predeceased brother’s parter, Jorene.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Sbarbari; brother, Stephen Sbarbari; brother-in-law, Richard Gattola; and aunt, Betty Mazzarisi.
The Celebration of Life Service for Michael will be 3:00 pm Thursday, April 2, 2026, at The Chapel of Burgess Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Burgess Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Knight of Columbus.
Michelina and Linda would like to extend a special thank you to Heather (Eric) and Jill (George) for always being there through everything with Michael and always helping in his care.
