Michael J. Schaefer, 71, of Sheridan passed away January 13, 2024. He was born August 22, 1952, in Evansville, Indiana the son of the late Marcellus Schaefer and Marie (Fleck) Friedman. He married Teresa Schlatterer on June 20, 1981.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Teresa Schaefer; two sons, Marcellus (Sara) Schaefer and Patrick Schaefer; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ethan, Addison, and Grayson; and three siblings, Ed (Gladys) Schaefer, Elaine (Jerry) Happe, and Keith (Marcella) Schaefer. He was preceded in passing by a brother, Mark Schaefer; and a sister, Diane Besing.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 17102 Spring Mill Road. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), 4180 Westfield Road. There will be an additional hour of visitation at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
